| Sampdoria Gennaro Delvecchio's goal gave Jose Mourinho's Inter a rude awakening as the title holders were held 1-1 at Marassi.
Antonio Di Natale opened the 2008-09 season in style with a sensational brace as Udinese sank Palermo 3-1

| Ronaldino and Andriy Shevchenko's debuts are ruined by Bologna, while Roma fail to undo 10-man Napoli. Lazio, Chievo and Torino win big.
However, the usual problems suffered by Milan last season remained failure to convert opportunities and weaknesses in defence allowing counter-attacks! Clearly they need to settle the new players in and try out the tactics. The impression I got is that this team can do great things.

| It is a rare upset on the 1st week of Serie A as the top 4 clubs struggle to win on their opening match. I was more surprise with the Inter result as Mourinho have not make a winning start on his official competitive match. | |

| Roma have failing to defeat 10-man Napoli and despite playing against 10 men for over half an hour, the Giallorossi were unable to net again and repeatedly risked defeat but overall the team played well! This match was open to absolutely any result. Napoli did very well to make the most of certain situations.
It has been an opening weekend full of surprise results, as Inter and Roma were held by a draw, while Milan lost on home turf to new boys Bologna! I think this is going to be a much more even and open Serie A season for title race than last year!

| The Old Lady dominated against their rivals on away soil and seemed to have the three points in the bag and were caught up at the end with Alberto Gilardino snatched a last-gasp equaliser for 10-man, viola! Juve must now try and deliver maximum points in their next Serie A encounter against Udinese at their Stadio Olimpico. | |

| Former Roma player and transfer consultant Alberto Faccini has revealed that the Giallorossi have requested information on Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
Dutch hitman Huntelaar has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Eternal City over the last 12 months.
No deal was negotiated with the 25-year-old's club Ajax during the summer, but Roma could make an approach in January, as they still seem to lack attacking options.

| Roma's crisis deepened with a 3-1 defeat at Genoa. That incident infuriated Roma and contributed to the tension that got Daniele De Rossi sent off for a second bookable offence.
The Bianconeri fell behind Inter at the top of the table after they were held 1-1 draw in Turin by a gutsy Catania side.
Rossoneri’s second consecutive victory that sends them into the top half of the table. Milan worn 2-1 against Reggina.

| De Rossi is renown for having a short fuse. It doesn't come to a surprise to me that he got himself sent off. Great win for Rossoneri as they manage to record 3 consecutive wins in all competition. The team start to gel and work as a team. Moreover Pato have been on the score sheet on those 3 occasion. Another player caught me eye is young Borriello with his goal scoring spree. | |

| German international Bastian Schweinsteiger looks increasingly likely to join Juventus at the end of the season. The midfielder's contract with Bayern Munich expires next summer and he has made it clear that he would be delighted to join the Old Lady. The Bianconeri are expected to offer Schweinsteiger a lucrative contract when they are allowed to begin talks with him in the winter. | |

| This year's Derby della Madonnina is a special one for all of those involved. The Derby della Madonnina is in its centenary year and Sunday's match is as eagerly anticipated as any of the previous 268 meetings between Milan and Inter. The Rossoneri have to win if they are to remain in the hunt for the title. They are already four points behind the Nerazzurri and it isn't even October yet., it's absolutely vital they keep them within touching distance. | |
